ART AND YOGA
The true artist, like the seer, is always conscious of his role as a vehicle for truth. Insight may come to him in the form of a divine madness, in which the truth is revealed to him in an ecstasy; or in a humility like that of a scientist who confronts his discipline somethingof far greater importance than his individual self.
The world we commonly experience is a world of total relativity. The yogi-artist realizes and sustains himself into a wider and deeper relationship with the
cosmos. The powerful urge he experiences to reemerge into Oneness (the primal state of wholeness) and his profound sense of ecstasy when this is achieved has as its nearest metaphor the psycho-sexual climax.
As through the outward release of his sexual energy a man can descend from his originating spiritual state into body-consciousness, conversely he can use sex to revert to the intense experience
of Oneness that transcends individual identity.
According to yogic theory, the artist can and should conserve this energy and onvert it into accelerated creativity.
